Into the flood again…

I’ve gone back to the larger paintings. I’m going to try and squeeze out two over the next two days. Here are the two colour schemes I’m going for… Stay tuned for more! Advertisements

Kenopsia – a run through of works so far…

It is my plan to have an exhibition some time in the near future. I’m trying to build a solid body of work, possibly 50 – 60 paintings, with the working title of Kenopsia. I came across this word on a website called The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows – which is dedicated to made up definitions. So for my … Continue reading

New painting – bad photo

I was recently asked to do a commission for someone of the ‘main’ abbey at Fore Abbey, Co. Westmeath. The colours I used were based around a tetrad stemming from a light brown colour. The camera I usually take photos with is presently out of action so I had to make do with my terrible camera … Continue reading

The art of Alexandra Pacula

I have rediscovered a LOT of painter’s work and websites that I have saved or bookmarked over the past 3 – 4 years. So over the coming weeks I’ll be bombarding this blog with some cool stuff. First up is the painter Alexandra Pacula whose work is absolutely incredible. Think : being drunk in a … Continue reading

Mantra

Mantra, Oil and Acrylic on canvas, 2012 I began work on this piece yesterday and it’s almost finished. I just need to add more gradient changes between the light (white) bits and the dark (colour) bits. This piece is a lot darker, literally and figuratively. For some reason my paintings of Christian monuments, statues, churches, … Continue reading

Rooted in one dear perpetual place

Again, this is an oldie (2010). I actually had this in my selection of works in our Graduation Show in GMIT in 2010. Because I still have it and because it goes well with the rest of the works completed more recently, I decided  to dig it out, blow off the cobwebs and do some … Continue reading

Into the artifice of eternity

I recently revisited some older work (from 2010 – 2011) to touch up some parts and then decided to add them to this body of work as they fit in well with the rest of the paintings.

Out of the murderous innocence of the sea

Oil and Acrylic on canvas

Out of the murderous innocence of the sea, oil and acrylic on canvas, 2012 This was an old one revisited – touched up and added to the current body of work. I’m still working on several more paintings but its hard to tell if they will all work together.
